The Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program (WIC)
WIC provides nutrition counseling and monthly food voucher prescriptions for USDA approved supplemental high-protein, high-iron foods to eligible infants, children up to five years of age, and pregnant, post-partum or breast-feeding women.  In 2006, the WIC Program served an average of 5,830 participants each month.
Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
CSFP provides qualified low to moderate-income elderly, children up to the age of six, and pregnant and post-partum women with free nutritious foods on a monthly basis. During 2006 an average of 2,546 women, children & elderly received CSFP food packages each month. Food offered through this program was valued at $497,470.

Who is eligible for CSFP?
Community Gardens
SNHS coordinates and oversees a community gardens project located on Hillsborough County land at the County complex in Goffstown. The majority of the garden plots are reserved and made available, free of charge, to low-income households. A total of 35 families were assigned garden plots in 2006, with the produce generated through this project valued at $8,050.  Remaining gardens are made available at nominal cost to the community-at-large.
Summer Food Service Program
SNHS' 2007 Summer Food Service Program, provided a combination of over 44,802 free USDA approved breakfasts, lunches and suppers to low income youth up to the age of 18 at over 25 sites in Concord, Manchester and Nashua.  This program was designed  to ensure that low income youth from school attendance areas where 50% or more of children receiving free or reduced school lunches could continue to receive healthy meals during the summer months.
Farmers' Market Nutrition Programs
WIC, CSFP, Women, Children and Seniors participants received $142,182 in coupons to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at local farmers' markets. Participants in the WIC /CSFP Farmers' Market  receive these nutrition benefits in addition to their regular food packages. Local farmers are reimbursed for the face value of the $18 vouchers, thereby increasing their earnings and supporting their participation in farmers' markets.  A total of 7,899 clients received vouchers.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)
In 2006, this program enabled us to distribute approximately 17,383 cases of various government surplus food.  Items valued at $212,113 were delivered to 20 food pantries, 1 soup kitchen, 2 shelters and 5 non-profit charitable organizations located in Manchester, Bedford, Goffstown, Merrimack, Nashua, Milford, Greenville, Hillsborough, Peterborough and Wilton.

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program provides free monthly food packages to thousands of individuals and families each year.  Here, a truckload of food is unloaded, ready to provid nutritious food to those who need it most.
